Home Retrofit Program Background

During community consultation on the West Bolton Action Plan, residents expressed interest in reducing their energy and water consumption at home to save money and be more environmentally conscious.

Background research revealed that the West Bolton neighbourhood has higher than average residential water consumption for Region of Peel, as well as high residential energy consumption. The municipality has also identified the neighbourhood as a priority area for tree planting.

Acting on this information, SNAP has developed the Home Retrofit Program to help increase the number of local households undertaking home retrofits to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and water use, manage flood risk, and more

The Home Retrofit Program was piloted successfully in more than 20 homes in 2018, and launched officially in June 2019.
