Introducing new Canadians to their local natural environment
Since 1997, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) has encouraged new Canadians in a variety of environmental initiatives by reducing language, cultural and economic barriers that have traditionally limited their participation.
Our goal is to collaborate with community partners and continually develop innovative strategies and programs to engage the diverse audiences that we serve.
Our current program offerings engage newcomers to Canada primarily through in-class environmental educational programs at English language learning centres and as an extension to that visit, through outdoor field trips.
