The Town of Caledon is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a federal grant of $149,875 to pilot a Sustainable Neighbourhood Retrofit Action Plan (SNAP) in one of the Town’s mature neighbourhoods.
“We are so thankful for the funding contribution from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Green Municipal Fund. Through this funding, we will be able to support the development of Caledon’s first pilot SNAP, which we are working on in collaboration with the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) and the Region of Peel. This SNAP will be designed to achieve measurable environmental improvements and community renewal in a mature neighbourhood in west Bolton,” said Town of Caledon Mayor Allan Thompson.
SNAP Action Plans have been developed in the City of Brampton, City of Markham, City of Mississauga, City of Toronto and the Town of Richmond Hill, and have proven to be an innovative tool for increasing the resiliency and performance of homes, buildings, greenspaces and infrastructure to climate change and other stressors such as population growth, aging infrastructure and environmental degradation.
The Caledon SNAP will be an on-the-ground demonstration of the Town’s Community Climate Change Action Plan. It will also assist with helping to address neighbourhood environmental issues and multiple watershed and regional objectives.
