It’s an ambitious undertaking intended to bring a host of social and cultural benefits to a community — and it’s already making an impact on the lives of young people.
Launched by Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), the Bolton Camp Project in Caledon will transform a former summer camp for low-income families into a community cultural hub. One unique offshoot of this effort to redevelop the 254-acre property is Girls Can Too: a program offering young women the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in construction and ecology.

Every summer, Girls Can Too participants take part in projects that contribute to the revitalization of Bolton Camp, from trail restoration to habitat creation. The hours of community service earned can be applied toward their high school diplomas.
