The Archetype Sustainable houses are model homes which puts green theory into practice. The houses, which are both LEED platinum status, demonstrate many green technologies, for example solar and wind produced electricity, solar domestic hot water, geothermal heating and cooling and rainwater harvesting.

The European styling and decor and the green roof are an integral part of the energy-efficient lifestyle envisaged for residents in such a home. Students will follow a guided tour of the inside and outside of the houses and take part in related activities.

Topics covered will include concepts of sustainability, energy efficiency, resource use, water conservation/zero runoff, indoor air quality, construction methods and careers in the green industry. Groups take part in interactive activities where sustainability is demonstrated and discussed on a global scale.
