Black Creek Pioneer Village is more than a collection of buildings and artifacts. Here, you will become immersed in the lifestyles, customs, and surroundings of early residents who built the foundations for modern Toronto and Ontario, at a crossroads community village typical of those found in the Toronto area during the 1800s.
As a living history museum, Black Creek Pioneer Village offers one of the richest heritage experiences in the Toronto area.
In the buildings and surrounding gardens and farmyards, you will find historical interpreters and tradespeople in authentic period dress, who will demonstrate and explain for you how people lived, worked and played in mid 19th century rural Ontario.

The green landscapes, farm animals, historic gardens and slower pace combine to create a country serenity in the middle of the city. It’s a great place to escape the concrete jungle and savour the seasons.
From rugs that have been hand-woven from wool shorn from our heritage-breed sheep, to hand-crafted tin lanterns from the village Tinsmith, to CDs of period music, you’ll find pioneer-related items to buy at Black Creek that are difficult to find anywhere else.
Share a Pint from the Past
Black Creek Historic Brewery is a faithful recreation of a working brewery exactly as it would have been in the mid-1800s. Our brewers, in period costume, handcraft the same ales and porters enjoyed in Ontario’s country villages before Confederation.
