Humber Bay Shores Trail Maintenance Project – Completed

Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), in partnership with the City of Toronto, conducted minor maintenance works in Humber Bay Shores Park, near Sheldon Lookout. As a result of the work, TRCA addressed public safety concerns through the repair of a failed concrete section of the waterfront viewing node.

Project Location

The project was located in Humber Bay Shores Park near the mouth of the Humber River and on the north shore of Lake Ontario, in the City of Toronto. The area of concern included a damaged section of the waterfront viewing node south of Sheldon Lookout.

Scope of Work

  • Start Date: July 18, 2019
  • Completion Date: July 24, 2019

The Humber Bay Shores Trail Maintenance Project was considered high priority because the collapsed concrete trail and the erosion of the backshore were a risk to public safety. The scope of work included:

  • Removal of the broken concrete
  • Pouring of a new concrete slab on the trail
  • Reinforcing the soil between the armourstone and trail with rip rap
