Colonel Samuel Smith Park Minor Maintenance Project – Completed

Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), in partnership with the City of Toronto, conducted minor maintenance repairs within Colonel Samuel Smith Park. As a result of the work, TRCA was able to restore the seawall and the nearby trail which were damaged by wave activity.

Project Location

The project was located in Colonel Samuel Smith Park at the base of Colonel Samuel Smith Park Drive, in Etobicoke, City of Toronto. The seawall that was repaired is located on the interior shore of the marina.

Scope of Work

  • Start Date: October 16, 2019
  • Completion Date: November 4, 2019

The Colonel Samuel Smith Park Minor Maintenance Project was considered high priority because the erosion of the backshore was encroaching on a public path. The scope of work included:

  • Filling of the voids behind the armourstone with rip rap to protect the shore
  • Filling the voids beneath the viewing platform which had eroded away
  • Repair of the gravel trail
