TRCA’s properties offer unique opportunities to explore how our ancestors’ connection with the natural world shaped their lives and communities.

The history of the Toronto region is, in many ways, defined by the relationship between its early residents and the lands and waters that constituted the lifeblood of their settlements.

Today, Toronto and Region Conservation maintains a number of locations where visitors can learn how our natural and cultural heritages intertwine:

• Discover the life and legacy of Ontario conservation pioneer Dr. Francis H. Kortright at the Kortright Centre for Conservation.
• Step 150 years into the past, and explore the painstakingly restored heritage buildings at Black Creek Pioneer Village.
• Hike through Albion Hills Conservation Park along the Humber Valley Heritage Trail.
• Explore Claireville Conservation Area and check out heritage property Wiley Bridge, one of the few remaining concrete bowstring bridges in Canada.
• Visit Walker Woods and Glen Major Forest,  priceless slice of our natural and cultural heritage on the Oak Ridges Moraine.
